The Marathon Mindset
+ my speech at the UN

AI is here, whether we like it or not. And while we absolutely need to keep talking about risks, ethics, and safety, we also need to talk about access. Because too often, the people who need these tools the most are the ones left behind.
Yesterday, I had the chance to speak with students at the 2025 UNIS-UN Conference about what it means to navigate a future shaped by AI.
At Moms First, we’ve seen firsthand how technology can bridge gaps—it's why we built PaidLeave.AI, a tool designed to help parents cut through the chaos of our broken paid leave system. AI has the power to make life easier, to break down barriers, to create more opportunity. But that only happens if we build it for everyone, not just a select few.
So let’s keep pushing the conversation forward—on ethics and access. Because AI isn’t just coming. It’s here. And we all deserve a seat at the table.

What if rejection wasn’t a stop sign, but a starting line?
Midlife is full of unexpected detours...jobs that don’t pan out, relationships that shift, dreams that evolve into something new. But what if we approached these detours the way a runner tackles a marathon?
This week on My So-Called Midlife, I sat down with the unstoppable Phoebe Robinson to talk about how running (yes, actual marathon training) became her greatest teacher in handling the twists, setbacks, and unexpected wins in her midlife.
Turns out, both of us started running after breakups, and what started as a way to cope turned into a powerful lesson in endurance for us, both on and off the road. Phoebe opens up about how training helped her rethink rejection, navigate the unpredictability of midlife, and shed the relentless hustle mindset that once defined her.
If you’ve ever hit your own mile 17 (what I call the moment where everything feels impossible, but you keep going anyway), this conversation is for you. Because midlife isn’t about stopping...it’s about finding new ways forward.

I want to give a huge shout out to Tamron Hall and the release of her adorable children’s book Harlem Honey, which is out NOW. It’s a beautiful celebration of community, resilience, and the magic of finding your own voice. My boys loved it! She joins me next week on My So-Called Midlife to talk more about it, and her extraordinary life and career.
